02-17-2005 19:27 - WidoSAT/ISAT - NEW - Satellite Frequency Change - IMPORTANT!

We have just received (at 02-17-2005 19:27) another urgent notice from our satellite partner regarding the recent frequency change that was previously announced here...

The new frequency that our service was moved to by our provider has proved to be unstable to a portion of our subscribers due to its proximity to another strong carrier. After extensive testing and diagnostics it has become apparent that, in order to stabilize service and provide improved signal quality to all users, we will need to move to a different frequency. We greatly apologize for this inconvenience and have performed our own tests on the new frequency to assure that this doesn’t happen again. At midnight EST tonight, [the evening of] Thursday, February 17, 2005, SynComm’s service is being moved to a different, more stable frequency on the AMC-6 satellite. This change will only affect end-users that are pointed toward the AMC-6 satellite... All of these end-users will need to make another change to their frequency setting in order to continue surfing using the satellite after midnight EST [the evening of] Thursday, February 17, 2005... We have also posted these directions on "http://www.satnow.net/".

DO NOT HAVE YOUR USERS MAKE THIS CHANGE BEFORE MIDNIGHT EST TONIGHT, [the evening of] FEBRUARY 17, 2005.

The following simple steps are all that need to be performed:

  1. Double click the round satellite icon located in the system tray to open the Setup4PC application.
  2. Click the Transponder Management button.
  3. In the Transponder section to the left, double click on the 12051 MHz: H/L (or 11860 MHz: H/L if the original change was not made) line to open the Edit Transponder window.
  4. Change the Transponder from 12051 to 12060.
  5. Click the Tune button located at the bottom of the window and the Signal Quality will then return.
  6. Click the OK button to close the Edit Transponder window.
  7. Click the Close button to exit the Transponder Management window.
  8. Click the Close button to exit the Setup4PC application
  9. VERY IMPORTANT - Right click on the round satellite icon and select AMC-6. Please note that this step is necessary to activate these changes even though it does not appear to do anything.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this matter.

According to the notice above from our satellite service partner, this new frequency change is scheduled to take effect, 12:00 AM (00:00), Feb, 18, 2005, which is tonight, the evening of Thursday, Feb, 17, and the early morning of, Friday, Feb, 18. This change should resolve the intermittent satellite signal experienced by some satellite users.

Please feel free to call our office (757-253-7621) if you need help making the required changes.
