We have received the following notice from our satellite service partner informing us of a scheduled satellite service outage that will occur on, Tuesday, April 5th, 2005. During that time WidoSAT users will be able to surf using their standard dialup connections.
We have just been informed that final testing on our current satellite transponder will be conducted on Tuesday, April 5th, 2005 between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM Eastern Daylight Savings Time (EDT). During this period, the satellite Internet service will be down and users will only be able to surf the Internet using their dial-up connection. Testing during this timeframe is necessary in order to assure that the best people and resources are available. SynComm agreed to this outage in lieu of being moved to a different transponder which would have required everyone to make another transponder frequency change. In the past, frequency changes have been disruptive and problematic so we felt that a scheduled outage was a more preferable option...
SynComm is looking forward to the completion of these tests so that we can move forward and provide our Partners and their customers with uninterrupted service. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding in this matter.
Feel free to contact us with any questions or if you need information on using your standard dialup connection during the scheduled outage time frame.
WidoSAT users, in order to connect via standard dialup, can either create a separate dialup connection just for standard dialup, or they can change the username they use with their current WidoSAT dialup connection icon. For example, if your WidoSAT dialup username is "jdoe@isat.widomaker.com", then using just the username of "jdoe" would allow you to connect using standard dialup without using the satellite system. Returning the username to "your_user_name@isat.widomaker.com" will make use of the satellite system again.
